Winter is upon us again and, as you may know, another bout of snow is forecast for the next few days.

You should therefore be aware of what has been termed by the local police as the 'Snow Shovelling' scam, which is being operated in our area and which I myself have already fallen victim to!

Basically, the gang work in pairs - they knocked on my door & offered to clear the snow from my driveway and path for just £10 up front. Not bad, I thought; however, after no more than 5 minutes, they knocked on my door again and complained that they were too cold and asked if they could come inside "just until we get warm?", they said. Stupidly, I agreed, but then they refused to leave and just sat on my sofa, giggling for the next 2 hours! They only agreed to leave when I began to cry because my wife was due home any minute and she would've been very angry with me for allowing strangers into the house.

Anyway, they left, but the driveway was still caked in snow and I was £10 worse off!!!
